Services for Producers

The sales agency is responsible for:

  • Administering the Règlement sur la production et la mise en marché des bovins de réforme et des veaux laitiers du Québec (Regulation respecting the production and marketing of Quebec cull cattle and dairy calves)
  • Negotiating and administering the Convention aux fins de la vente de bovins de réforme et de veaux laitiers (Agreement for the sale of cull cattle and dairy calves)
  • Administering the Règlement sur le fonds de garantie des producteurs de bovins (Regulation respecting the cattle producers’ guarantee fund) and the Règlement sur la garantie de responsabilité financière des acheteurs de bovins (Regulation respecting the financial responsibility guarantee of cattle buyers)
  • Negotiating and administering the Convention de mise en marché visant l’approvisionnement en bovins biologiques (produit spécifique) de Les Fermes Valens (Marketing agreement to supply organic cattle [specific product] from Les Fermes Valens)
  • Inspecting auctions
  • Disseminating market prices

Legislation
The agency administers the Règlement sur la production et la mise en marché des bovins de réforme et des veaux laitiers du Québec. It also negotiates and administers the marketing agreement with the auction houses as well as the marketing agreement to supply organic cattle.

Auction inspections
The sales agency authorizes inspectors to ensure the agreement with the auction houses is followed.

Organic cattle
The sales agency organizes the marketing of organic livestock through a dedicated channel and negotiates an agreement with the buyer.

What if a buyer fails to pay? Our self-insurance program guarantees that cull cattle and dairy calf producers receive payment for all animals they sell in accordance with the regulation.
